Toshiba announces world’s first 32GB pen drive

Flash memories keep increasing in capacity and becoming increasingly cheaper at the same time, but still, this is the first time that a company announces a new drive with a 32GB capacity that isn’t any larger than any other conventional one.

These new pen drives will first be released in October, with sizes ranging from […]

UPDATE:  Entertainment Weekly has a story, along with a smaller, yet better resolution pic.

Notice the lack of a title on that poster…so maybe not so much with the Monstrous.  The mystery continues…
ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
Rumors are bouncing all over the place that the much-hyped J. J. Abrams project, heretofore called ‘Cloverfield’, will be getting an announcement today as […]

DC Comics to pick up Heroes Online Graphic Novel

From the “360 Heroes Experience” to the Origins episodes we’ll be expecting next year, Heroes has done some amazing things when it comes to keeping their viewers interested in the show during downtimes.  One of the methods I’ve been following pretty closely (and recapping weekly over on TV Jab) is the Online Novel, which does […]

Dark Horse to produce Indiana Jones comics in 2008

In anticipation, and to help promote, the next installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, production of Indiana Jones comics are kicking back into high gear, with a slew of books coming our way in 2008.
It looks like 2008 is going to be the year of Indy, and I can’t wait to see if “old Indy” […]

Kameraflage: What Your Eyes Won’t See

A really cool new concept is making its debut soon that will allow camera technology to see one thing while our normal human eyes miss out on the extra content.
Called kameraflage, I think the below image does it far more justice than my words every could.

Other proposed uses for this technology include being able to […]

Target goes Blu-Ray exclusive in-store

I hate the format war. I hated the DVD/Divx war, and I’m hating the HD-DVD/Blu Ray war even more. I want to upgrade to High Def disks for my DVD collection, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to choose one of these formats.
Drew posted earlier today about Microsoft announcing a […]

Microsoft Announces Xbox 360 HD-DVD Price Drop

And, of course, I literally just bought one.
Today at Comic-Con, Microsoft announced that they would be dropping the price of their Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player add-on from the already competitive $199 to $179.  In addition, if you buy the player between August 1 and September 30, you get five free HD-DVD’s.
Also in the announcement, coming relatively soon […]

Cellphone Concept for the Blind

This cellphone concept is a very interesting take on a phone for the blind. Instead of using Braille, all of the buttons on the device are at different angles, which a blind person can memorize. The design is very slick looking. Unfortunately, right now it’s just a concept, but I’d be very interested […]

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue details leak out

Even though right now the triple B (big, bad and black) Sony console has been somewhat of a slumbering beast, owners, or potential owners should be happy to hear about some new details regarding Gran Turismo 5’s release.
For the early look at the real Gran Turismo 5, Yamauchi is planning for 40 cars, 4 tracks, […]

iPhone? Bah… Korea is getting the Shooting Star Phone!

Someday I’ll forgive myself for that title, and maybe you will too, but once you finish reading this small article I hope you’ll understand me a bit better ;)
While Samsung, Nokia and Microsoft are working hard to improve the interface of their cellphones and launch new touch-screen devices, the Korean company Sky is releasing a […]

Buffalo puts 300GB in your pocket

Just a little while after Western Digital released a 250GB 2.5″ external HDD, Buffalo releases a 300GB one, and for a very competitive price, at least in European markets.
While Western Digital’s drive costs $199, Buffalo’s costs ¥38000 ($315 USD or €229). Considering that the first drive costs little over €200 in Europe, if Buffalo adopts […]

Buffalo releases new external DVD burner for Windows and Mac

External DVD burners aren’t hard to come by, even those that are compatible with both Windows and Apple computers. So why is this one any different?
Well, the product itself is nothing new, but it’s a bit surprising that Buffalo, a Japanese-based company, has started adding more support for Macs, considering that their consumer share in […]

Books reviewed this week include StarLord #1, Grendel: Behold the Devil #0, and Fantastic Five #2.
StarLord #1(of 5)

This StarLord mini-series may be a part of the larger Annihilation: Conquest storyline, but it is a stand alone read that you can enjoy without following the entire Annihilation saga.
This first issue serves to […]

First off, let me say that I don’t think it’s fair to call this phone, or any other phone with a touchscreen a “rip off” of the iPhone. Apple didn’t invent the touch screen, they just made it popular. Obviously, the device has been inspired by the demand for the iPhone, but from […]

Happy 15th Birthday TXT Messages!

It’s amazing to me that the mobile phone industry is celebrating the 15th year of the Short Message Service Center (SMSC). The SMSC was the “principal application behind text messaging” and was first brought to the market by Acision in 1992. Over the years it has evolved into an IP-based SMS architecture […]
