Battle Of The Sexes
Years ago, Genma promised his old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma would marry one of Soun’s three daughters, and carry on the family’s martial arts school. Except that the girl picked to be Ranma’s bride doesn’t seem to like him, Ranma keeps getting into fights..and did we mention that whole changing into a girl thing?

Having already seen many episodes and enjoying the comedy of it all, I didn’t expect to find laughter once again when I re-read the story as it was originally told.
I didn’t really compare the anime with the manga, though I think it’s safe to say that they are pretty much the same in terms of storyline. However, there are some small details in the manga that really make it shine, and I found myself laughing throughout the whole volume.
Even though it’s surprisingly thick for a manga volume (though the other volumes aren’t as much) I read it very quickly and when I finished it made me wish I had more volumes to read. Even if you’re a fan of the animation and already seen it, I definitely recommend this to any person that enjoys a good comedy with a small tendency for action.

2I’ve only seen a few episodes of the anime, but I liked what I saw. I’ll probably read the manga after I study Japanese some more and can read the original version.

3Then there was the Ranma 1/2 drinking game. Rules:
Whenever someone gets water on them, take a drink
Whenever Kuno says something ‘poetic’, take a drink
(Later episodes) Whenever Akane whips out her ‘dimensional hammer’ to hit Ranma, take a drink.
You get drunk pretty quickly with this game.

4I’ve seen all the eps of Ranma 1/2, and read all the manga, and I would say the manga is better. The anime sorta falls appart at season 4. Great series all the same though.
