Apple Introduces iPod Hi-Fi, Intel Mac Mini

At Apple’s special media event today in Cupertino, two new products were announced. The first is the iPod Hi-Fi, pictured above.

The second announcement was that of an Intel Core Duo Mac Mini. This was expected, although rumors were also circulating that it would include some DVR software, which it does not.

Just 6.5 inches square and 2 inches small, Mac mini lets you have more fun with your music, photos and movies, more quickly and more easily. I hate to troll, but this fucking sucks. The new boombox is nothing special in form and function, except for the ridiculous price tag. The new minis get a faster processor, but the video cards now share memory with ram: Video is slower and less available ram. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was actually slower than the old minis in real life applications.

Yeah, I won’t be a blunt as cliche, but I am not very impressed by these releases either. Sure, the Mac Mini got an Intel processor and Front Row, but it would have been more impressive if it had some sort of DVR software on it.

As for the hi-fi, I think it is rather ugly and un-Apple. Not really an innovation, just playing catchup with other similar products that may be better.

What is even less impressive are the official leather sleeves. It’s just a pouch. You can’t even access the controls without removing the iPod.

It’s nice to have a good stereo for your iPod I guess, but why are so many people regarding this as a revolutionary device? It’s a stereo with an iPod dock.

It doesn’t even have a bigger screen in case you want to see what music is playing without being too close to it.

I did like the new universal dock though compatible with the Apple Remote. Since I’m getting an iPod soon it’s perfect for me (since I don’t have a stereo).
