Ever since the iPhone came out, hackers and users from across the world all tried to find a solution in how to use it’s wonderful touchscreen and phone capabilities without having to reside in the US, or being limited to a single carrier.

When Apple announced it’s new iPod line in the beginning of this month, no one was surprised to see Apple offering a phone-less version of it’s very popular iPhone. But what we didn’t realize at the time, is that the iPod Touch was less than a phone-less iPhone. In fact, most of the iPod Touch’s features are butchered down versions of the iPhones:

you don’t just lose a cell phone by buying iPod touch instead of a comparable-capacity iPhone; you lose the dock, charger, camera, external speaker, microphone, battery life, screen quality, resilient back casing, Bluetooth, and several applications.

With that said, iLounge gave the iPod Touch a rating that it rarely gives to Apple’s products, a B-. And although it is a very good media player, and one of the best portable video players. But given that the iPod Touch was given some serious limitations, both in terms of software and hardware, compared to the iPhone.
