Amazing Computer Setup

I’ve seen some pretty amazing computer setups in my time, but I think this one beats them all.
Here’s the list of the things and descriptions taken from there:
- 12″ Powerbook 1.3Ghz 1 GB Ram 100GB HD.. fits in my camera bag
- 17″ Powerbook 1.67Ghz / 2GB Ram / 100GB HD. The one released right before the ones with the HD screens.
- 30″ Display on 17″ powerbook
- Canon Xl1s MiniDV Cam
- Dell 2.8Ghz P4 1GB Ram
Using MS RemoteDesktop this is cheaper and faster than VPC
- This tiny display is actually a 23″ on a Mac Mini 1.42 Ghz with 1GB Ram/superdrive. This is my media server for all my music.
- Bluetooth Mouse on WebObjects Mousepad.. Yes, I use WebObjects becuse I’m hardcore like that
- 40GB 4th Generation iPod. Old school black and white screen. (Had to cut corners somewhere)
- Toshiba Tablet PC for a medical application I’m developing… yes, in WebObjects
- 30″ Display one on Dual 2.7Ghz G5 4 GB Ram Tons of storage
- 30″ Display two on Dual 2.7Ghz G5 4 GB Ram Tons of storage
- Canon 20D with 70-200 IS L Lens
- Canon 100-400 IS L Lens
- Wacom Intuos3 Tablet
I was already pinched after this, so yes, it is real and sitting in a room that isn’t my own… sigh.
Kudos visualseed…

10To convince myself the man is insane, I decided to look up a quick price check on some of the features he has. I’ve taken rough prices (in this quick n dirty search) in each case:
Apple 30″ cinema - 2,100 x 3 = 6,300
Apple 12″ Powerbook G4 - 936 x 1 = 1,100
Apple 17″ Powerbook 1,500 x 1 = 1,500
Apple 23″ Display 1.200 x 1 = 1,200
Canon Xl1s MiniDV 4000 x 1 = 4,000
Dell 2.8Ghz 450×1 = 450
Apple Mini 1.4Ghz 550 x 1 = 550
Toshiba Tablet PC 1,500 x 1 = 1,500
ipod 40GB - 300 x 1 = 300
Canon 20D - 1 x 1,000 = 1,000
70-200 IS L Lens - 1 x 1,300 = 1,300
Cannon 100-400 IS L Lens 1 x 1,600 = 1,600
Wacom Intuos3 Tablet - 300 x 1 = 300
Apple Dual 2.7 G5 - 2,700 x 1 = 2,700
===============================
Grand Total: $23,800
F*CK.

11Very impressive to look at, but quite unpractical for a one user setup.
