Thanks to rapidly falling prices, year-over-year sales for LCD monitors rose by a whopping 70% according to market research firm Current Analysis. In addition, 19″ LCDs outsold 15″ models in Q3.
Pricing for LCD monitors dropped by an average of 36 percent year-over-year â leading the declining prices was the 19-inch model, which dropped by 42 percent. The report cites an industry-wide component oversupply, which lasted from Q2 2004 through Q1 2005, as the reason for the price reductions.
However, analysts warned not to expect the trend to continue at the current rate moving into the fourth-quarter.
It is really great that prices are dropping, as I still have not taken the plunge and bought an LCD. My girlfriend was just told by her optomotrist that she needs to wear her glasses because CRT monitors are ruining her eyes. Pretty blunt, and scary, as I sit infront of a CRT for around ten hours a day…wait, maybe that is why I am almost legally blind.

1CRT is roughly like having a small projecter shooting at you with a piece of glass in between. At least with TV, you have some distance.
With LCD prices and response times droping like the world trade center *looks around for PC police*, there’s not a lot of reasons to stick to CRT.
