ToonZone has the first real details of the new Transformers animated series that will be airing on Cartoon Network in the fall of 2007. This is the first time since Beast Machines that a US produced Transformers series has been in development.
The series is scheduled for 26 episodes and will be written by Marty Isenberg, one of the primary writers of Beast Machines (which I know probably already has some Transformers fans concerned…but let’s give the guy a chance). Matt Youngberg will be the new series’ supervising director, Derrick Wyatt will provide the character designs and it will be produced by Cartoon Network VP Sam Register.
The only thing we know about it right now is that it will be set on a future Earth where humans and robots co-exist. Optimus Prime and Megatron will continue in their roles as leaders of the Autobots and Decepticons, and - as always - many more classic characters will appear in new bodies.
There is no word on voice casting at this time but one can only hope that Cartoon Network has the phone numbers of Peter Cullin and Frank Welker.
