It seems that the creators of the alleged Modchip shown yesterday have stepped up and showed a different picture of the modchip that actually has it placed inside the PSP. They have also released a ‘Press Release’ text, announcing all of it’s features:
The U.P. (Undiluted Platinum) is a flash replacement system for the PSP™ which […]

First PSP modchip coming?

First of all, this is a rumor. There are no confirmed dates, or sources. Only one of the news’ sources claims that is is true. Many speculate on it being a fake, accompanied by a Photoshop’ed picture. I’ll let you be the judge of that.
The speculated chip will allow users to have two different firmwares […]

Homebrew PSP MMO in the works

A brave programmer has taken up the task of trying to create the very first PSP MMO, actually, the very first MMO for portable consoles I believe.
His work is very green still, but it will be set in outer space and apparently you’ll fly around different systems in order to accomplish different objectives, though nothing […]

The PSP is better - Portable Console War Ends

They say it isn’t over until the fat lady sings, in real life at least. In gaming, instead, it’s a fat boy that has managed to earn 15 minutes of fame on the Internet after 3 years of Internet shows.
If you have ever wondered how a fanboy would defend his console in real life, this […]

PSP USB ISO Loader released

One of the PSP’s main limitations is the size of the currently available (or affordable) memory sticks. From what aims to be a fully-fledge media device, being limited to 2 or 4gbs (or only 1gb as many users have) isn’t good enough for a library of music and movies, only one of the two.
Another of […]

PSP Camera on E3

Though the “big boys” took everyone’s eyes away from the portable consoles Sony and Konami put on a pretty good how for their little media device. Particularly, the eagerly awaited camera which is rumored to become built-in on the next revision of the PSP. I don’t know it many games will use it (actually I […]

Yoyofr and his team have released yet another version of the best SNES emulator for the PSP.

[NEW] spc playback through openspc++.

[NEW] sound emulation moved to […]

Daedalus N64 Emulator Updated

Just a day after the initial release, very popular emulator has been updated, which is sort of average for new emulators (to be updated so frequently) after their release.
The good thing about Daedalus is that it’s completely Open-Source and anyone can pickup where, and if, they decide to stop. Over the upcoming future releases the […]

Humma Kavula releases UMD Emulator Source

Just when Sony seemed to nearly catch up with the PSP homebrew community, a retired developer emerged from the ashes and released the source code of possibly the best (and best known) homebrew program for the PSP; his infamous UMD Emulator.
Also, he mentioned that he only quit the scene because he was tired of the […]

The very first demo released, via PC for the PC is now available. However, not all is good.
First of all, to play the demo you need to update your PSP’s firmware to 2.70, that was just released yesterday. By doing this, you will lose ability to play any and all homebrew software. Though the official […]

PSP’s first downloadable demo tomorrow

The PSP scene has been pretty quiet lately. There are still breakthroughs being done in terms of UMD loading, but if piracy isn’t your thing, then there isn’t much else happening, well, at least not as much as before.
Tomorrow Sony will release the first downloadable demo for the PSP, Loco Roco. Which will not only […]

Nintendo 64 on your PSP soon?

Thanks to a talented coder known only as PSMonkey it seems that we will soon have a functional Nintendo 64 emulator to play on the go. I’ve been following this project ever since it only ran N64 homebrews and from the last videos I must say that my hopes are higher than ever.

Despite the obvious […]

ucLinux for PSP

A programmer that goes by the nick “Freedom Fry” has recently released a proof-of-concept release of a Linux distro for the PSP.

The program doesn’t really do much yet, however, if he keeps working on this and someone bothers porting KDE we might have a fully functional graphical Linux OS on our PSPs soon.
