So, is the WB’s lackluster ‘The Batman’ animated series finally something worth watching? Well, maybe. They took a step in the right direction with ‘The Batman vs. Dracula’, but overall the show has been pretty disappointing. “The Bat-Embargo” it caused for the superior series, JLU, has also left a pretty nasty taste in the mouths of older Batman fans.
Season 4 might be the turning-point, though. If you head down to the Legions of Gotham messageboard you can get a look at some images for a few of the new characters that were revealed at the San Diego Comic Con. Some look promising, some look confusing and some look just plain…bizarre.
Featured among the images is a picture of Harley Quinn (her premier episode will be written by her creator, Paul Dini, by the way), Killer Moth (voiced by the ever-talented Jeff Bennet), Oracle (getting rid of Batgirl so soon?), Robin, Nightwing (wha?), Black Mask (voiced by James Remar), Clayface (the Matt Hagen version), Everywhere Man (voiced by Brandon Routh!) and a rough sketch of Martian Manhunter. News also comes that Kevin Conroy (Batman from the original Animated Series) will be voicing Dick Grayson’s father.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see if this is good news or not, but it sure has got me curious.

1This could serve the show well. At the least, seeing the redesigned characters would be interesting, but after what they did to Mr. Freeze … I don’t know.

2The shows better than you give it credit for. It’s always been good. You people are just so stupid that you don’t realize it.

3No, I don’t think the audience being “too stupid” is the problem, I think that’s more the problem of the show-itself. Terrible character designs, underwhelming voice acting and child-oriented, simplified stories and character origins do not equate to a “good show”. The show has not “always” been good. It has improved, yes. I’d say the only people that are truly stupid are the ones who sling insults anonymously over the internet.
