   My corporate people have told me not to install it until directed to do so, and then only from our local network rather than through Windows Update. On my personal XP-running box, I’ll probably wait a week.

   I have been running on SP2 since RC1 came out, and have had no problems. I have it on all three of my desktops and my IBM Thinkpad laptop. I would say that if you are a typical home computer user, install it right away. The only reason to wait would be if you are running a bunch of custom apps.

   Its amazing that Windows gets the rap for bad software written by others.

   The success of the Windows platform (in terms of available software) is its bane.

   Well I’ve been running one of the pre-releases too for a little while without any problems. Though my brother’s free Antivirus plays better with the new security console than my Norton 2004, go figure. :)

   At work though (I’m on 2000 till I get a new machine in a few months) I was informed by my fellow IT guys (I’m the web person, who just helps out when they need me) that our older networking systems are not compatible with the new security they’re implementing, so for the time being, no upgrades.

   So, home users, should upgrade for the added security, etc. But in corporate areas it’s a wait and see, luckily IT usually handles most security stuff, and firewalls and antivirus/spyware are forcefully kept up to date as much as possible.

   My 2¢ :)

   I’ve been using sp2 since beta… and have had no problems… usually the software developers release upddates in order to be compatible with MS. I’m running the final release of sp2, and so far is running great.

   It makes perfect sense that IBM would not want it installed… they probably have a large number of in-house apps that expect to be trusted connections, which the new security in SP2 would break. That doesn’t mean home users — even uber-geek home users — shouldn’t install it. If you’re not running on a corporate network with in-house software that SP2 might break, install it.

    if u need audio drivers u need to know the make of your sound card then just go on to driver gide site an mostlicly find the drivers there but i mostly just look on google but yheat will just have links to shitty site but some are gd
