If you live in the US, I am sure you are familiar with the Columbia House (or BMG) process of getting 12 CDs for a ridiculously low price. As tempting as it was, your parents probably always told you that there was a catch and for me that catch involved black helicopters, FBI agents, and being drafted for the next world war.

Anyways, here is a true story of what could happen to someone if they actually followed through and took Columbia House up on their offer and the solution to get out of trouble. Note that the solution is anything but conventional and it works remarkably well.

Hilarious. Although as a sister, I would be pissed if my name was signed throughout the whole thing. My brother would have hell to pay. Apparently, Larry’s sister is much cooler than I.

I was a member of BMG for 2+ years back in the mid-nineties and never had any problems at all. If I forgot to mail in the “featured DVD of the month” thing they would automatically send it, but then I’d just ship that sucker right back to them and not have to pay for it. I think BMG has less of a commitment than Columbia House. If I remember correctly, I never was required to buy any CDs after the first “buy 3 get 10″ deal or whatever it was when I first signed up.

I NEVER paid full price for a CD from them. I only bought stuff when it was “buy 1 get 3 free” and the like, and if you can do that then it’s a pretty worthwhile deal.
