Lex Luthor is blogging. At least in Smallville, that is. I’ll be posting a screenshot soon (I’ll have to revisit my Season 5 downloads). Update: screenshot posted. You can check out the Project Mercury site at AOL.
Screencap of Lex Luthor’s laptop as he was emailing staff that the blog’s readyIt’s supposedly the blog that Lex Luthor’s minions are using for updates in tracking down the activities and whereabouts of Milton Fine (a.k.a. Braniac in this telling of the Superman mythos). Well, I do suppose this is intended to be a private blog in the story, but then again, Brainiac being Brainiac, he would easily have access to this information.
The blog posts ended by the time the Fifth Season finale was out, and I suppose it will pick up again when Season Six starts this September 12th.
Oh, and do take note of the AOL branding of the blog, as well as the AOL brand being present in several scenes in the season while Lex is emailing, IM’ing and videoconferencing with his minions. Product placement has been so prevalent in this TV series. First it was Apple, then it progressed to Dell, and now AOL. Don’t forget Chloe Sullivan’s Panasonic Toughbook!

1I could be mistaken, but weren’t there a few Alienware PCs shown in the school news paper office for a while there?

3Lots of cool leaks and speculations on what would happen this season 6–and whether it would be the last season, after all.
