Apparently, there’s a new sport that’s taking off across the western world - and its name is ‘speedcabling‘. Basically, you see that jumble of wires behind your desktop, and if you’re particularly unlucky even your laptop? Well, the concept behind this sport is to unjumble all those wires. In the fastest possible time that you can, that is.
The recent challenge that took place was held in an art gallery in Los Angeles. It was won by a web developer named Matthew Howell. The challenge came about from Steven Schkolne, who presented contestants with six jumbled Ethernet cables of various lengths. All they had to do was free and untangle the wires in the fastest possible time.
Apparently, this all came about from a couple of years ago and a stray thought of whether others appreciated the skill and thinking required to untangle a mass of cable. As part of the winning conditions, the cable used must be able to be carrying data signals at the end - no broken cable inside the insulation please!
