Do yourselves a favor and be sure to check this film out. One of the best movies I’ve seen all year with numerous Oscar-worthy performances and an extremely inspired script. The twist-ending is one of the best I’ve seen in a very long time. Highly recommended.

The Prestige, the movie, is in many ways like the illusionists it features; keeping certain things just out of sight yet within the audienceâs grasp at all times if only they can manage to figure it out. The movie is set-up in a rather non-linear fashion for the most part. Christian Baleâs character is delivering a narrative from the journal of Hugh Jackmanâs character, while simultaneously, Hugh Jackman is delivering a narrative from the journal of Christian Baleâs character. Each character gradually drops a piece of the puzzle in place, all leading up to a very shocking ending. This back-and-forth style of story-telling can be a bit confusing at first, and unless youâre paying attention, thereâs a chance the audience might get lost. I wouldnât recommend getting up and going to the bathroom during any part of this movie.

2I’m not sure how long it took me to realize that the movie was done in a non-linear fasion, but I found that annoying. Other than that, I liked the movie.

3I didn’t think there was any twist in this movie at all. Everything seemed right there in plain sight for me, and I didn’t think they were gonna play it as a shocking surprise until they attempted so at the end. I was disappointed. With something so obvious, maybe the truth was clouded from main characters by emotion, but these people weren’t idiots and neither was I.

4This movie was brilliant in every way. I did not see it as a play for “shocking surprise” at all. The film romantically hypnotizes you into a fued of illusion and emotion. Best film of the year, hands down.

6in reply to post #3…….what an idiot………as read with the Harvard accent……..”I was smart enough to not enjoy the movie”……”No twists, and it didn’t surprise me at all”. Yeah, right. Sounds like Pee Wee Herman after his bike wreck, when he jumped up and said, “I meant to do that”.
