Despite all of the moaning and complaints from consumers, regarding the price of Sony’s latest entry in the console business, the console is a bargain. With all of the components it has, including the Blu-Ray and DVD drive, the Cell processor, the graphics card and the hard drive, you could not put together a console as powerful and as reliable (*cough*360*cough*) as the Playstation 3 is.

Sony’s chief financial adviser recently spoke about the bad sales number that the Playstation 3 has met for the past few months. And on his opinion, these numbers are actually good (in a way) for the company:

Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation.

Like the author of the original article says, and I concur, this Christmas and early next year will either make the Playstation 3 the dominant console or determine it’s demise.

Regardless of the outcome, the number and quality of some of the upcoming titles will be reasons enough for me to purchase the console, even if the console fails to meet the expectations (in terms of sales).
