Following the emerging trend of touchscreen media devices, Korean company Cowon has just announced a new version of it’s iAudio player that increases the capacity to 16GB, and for a relatively affordable price also.

The 16GB iAudio7 will cost approximately $450 and it’s younger brother, the D2, with 8GB of capacity will cost approximately $316. Unfortunately, at the time this article was written, little is known about what formats this media player support, but I think it’s safe to say it supports at least MP3, WMA and Mpeg4.
With the continuous delay for new line of iPods, I wonder if these ones we’re seeing today will the the final models to break the gap between flash and hard-disk memory players. Will we finally witness the death of hard-drive-based media players when the next iPod line comes out?
