Sony’s Cybershot cameras have always been one of the company’s best assets, and in terms of style, and image quality, they are considered one of the best manufacturers of small-form digital cameras (their Alpha cameras aren’t too shabby either).

This latest camera seems to have received an minimalistic treatment, and Sony striped the camera out of most of the buttons, leaving it with a touchscreen and 4 discreet buttons on the edges of it’s back.

This ultra-compact camera has an 8 megapixel sensor and has 4GB of internal memory, which should more than enough for any casual photographer. The camera also has an ISO sensibility of 3200, which means that you will be able to achieve better, less grainy, results in low-light conditions.

On the software side, Sony also developed a “Smile Shutter” where the focus of the picture will be done on the face, rather than on anything else. Which might prove to be useful in some occasions when you’re trying to single out someone from a crowd or their surroundings.

As the happy owner of the T2’s older brother, the T3, I have to say that I’m happy with the way they are evolving their cameras, although the little photographer in me wishes that companies would focus on more sensitive cameras, with better results, rather than touch screens with nice interfaces (though I consider both important).
