A few months ago, Sony unveiled their next line of VAIO computers. Among them, was a small, and peculiar-shaped computer that is meant to be used in the living room, but can, of course, be used for any general purpose. But for some strange reason, Sony released it without giving it a proper announcement, which is never a good sign in terms of future prospects for such products.

Here’s what it has:

1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo chip, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 300GB hard drive, a dual-layer DVD writer and an ATSC / NTSC TV tuner, the device curiously only sports a GMA 950 integrated graphics.

With those characteristics, you’d expect this to be a great media-center. But it doesn’t have a Blu-Ray drive, which by now should be “common” with all Sony computers, at the very least. And with it’s integrated graphics card, you can’t expect to play any good games on it, despite having 2GB of RAM.

At $1600 (more or less), this is basically a much more expensive (and bigger) Mac Mini, with more focus on outputting the media.
