While they didn’t announce it at E3 like they should have, the rumors that Microsoft is planning a price drop for the Xbox 360 seem to be gaining some more substance. Over the weekend, Cheap Ass Gamer posted a couple of scans that they’d discovered, one from the August 8 ad for Wal-Mart and one from the August 12 ad for Toys R Us.
I haven’t seen any confirmation on price drops on the Elite or Core units, but I would hope that they’ll happen.
So…pair this up with the forthcoming 360 HD-DVD Player price drop, and…well, it still outprices the PS3 by about $30. But if you’ve been holding out for a 360, the time to buy should be right around the corner.

1Any word on whether these units will have the new cooler processors or not? If not… then I’ll hold my hard earned money on a gadget that I won’t need to replace every full moon.
