If you are parent of children who go on the Interent then it is vital that you run over and checkout Microsoft’s guid to computer slang. Here are some of the basics:

  • Numbers are often used as letters.
  • Characters of similar appearance can be used to replace the letters they resemble.
  • Letters can be substituted for other letters that may sound alike.
  • Rules of grammar are rarely obeyed.
  • Mistakes are often uncorrected.
  • Non-alphanumeric characters may be combined to form letters.
