A few weeks ago I posted an article on Apple Gazette about befriending some of the readers there on Digg. Quite a few joined up, and it’s been fun watching what they digg, and viewing the stories they submit, so I thought I would extend the invitation to Forever Geek readers as well.

Digg has been around for a while, and I’m sure most of you are very much aware of the site…but it’s only recently that I’ve actually begun using the site to look at news on a daily basis. I know the friends feature has been a big part of Digg - even more so since the site redesign, and I have to admit, I’m having fun with it.

So, if you want to you can click here and either add me as a friend, or if you’re new to digg - sign up and join in the fun of social news….and yes, I have submitted Forever Geek stories in the past - and I will again in the future…and if you want to digg them, that’s great…if not - that’s fine too.

One of the things that’s interesting about Digg is how the traffic spikes are fun…but kind of useless. It’s nice to see those users show up and check out an article and what not, but they never click on advertising or do much of anything to help promote your site, so I don’t feel really compelled to push digging Forever Geek stories on this site. Still - sometimes it’s fun just to see if the content your writing is good enough to be accepted by a larger community, and that, I think, is the most beneficial thing you get from getting a digg story promoted to the front page of the site.

One thing that I like the most about having friends on Digg is finding out what they’re interested in other than the typical stuff (i.e. Apple stuff from the Apple Gazette readers). So I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys are into that isn’t geeky.
