The following is a paid review of Dealighted.com

dealighted_v2.gifIf you’ve ever gone online looking for the lowest price on a particular item, you know how frustrating that can be. There are tons of places to look, and lots junk to wade through while you’re attempting to find the item that you’re looking for. I’ve typically used Froogle in the past, but have recently found that to feature an annoying number of auctions and other items that I’m not in anyway interested in. I want to buy from a store, and I want to buy items that are new.

Dealighted.com provides a solution to this problem that - while not perfect - is certainly a step in the right direction, and a valueable tool for finding the best deals online.

How does the site work?

Well, in grand Web 2.0 style by Social Networking OF COURSE!

Now, I say that partially in jest because is literally done to death on the web these days, but Dealighted does a good job of making it both functional and useful to the user. In true Digg/Del.icio.us style, deals are submitted by users, and you can save the ones that interest you. The more people save a deal, the higher up the rankings it goes, with the most popular deals making the front page of the site.

The site is more than just user generated submissions, however. It is also a collection of the best deals forums on the web, all located in one place. You can find coupon codes from sites like Slickdeals, FatWallet, GottaDeal, and more - plus most online stores like Buy.com, Amazon.com, etc. are listed when you search for specific items.

Even some not-so-known sites are listed, which can be a good thing in certain situations. For example, would you be interested in a Playstation 3 plus 5 full games for only $359? New?!? Well, click here, I found the deal on Dealighted.

You can see reviews from other users on each site (for example, the site with the great PS3 deal thus far has no reviews…should I be concerned? Maybe…) , the community aspect of things helps to ensure that disreputable companies aren’t going to be on the site for long.

Of course, with all social networking sites, there is some obvious spam to deal with, and while I don’t know for sure what Dealighted is doing to thwart the spammers, the site isn’t over run with it, so they must be doing something right. In typical true spam fashion, though, it’s very easy to spot, and doesn’t hinder the user experience at this time.

dealighted2.JPGIf you’re looking for a deal on just about anything, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t want to give Dealighted a try. The interface is easy to use, the community seems to be very active and helpful, and you’re definitely going to save a few bucks if you take the time to look around online for a better deal.
