Active for less than a year, Disney Mobile is the latest to call it quits in the mobile market. MVNOs like Disney Mobile seem to be having an extremely difficult time making it in the highly competitive world of wireless pay services, but sales must have been almost nothing for them to call it quits so quickly.
Users of the service (both of you) are supposed to get ready to pack things up by Nov. 30th to ensure that they have time to port numbers.
What’s most disappointing about the failure of this is that it seemed like a really good idea. It was a mobile service for tweens and teens (even young if you really wanted) where the parents could give kids a cellphone (which can be very helpful if said child was to ever get lost), but retain control of almost every aspect of the phone - allowing parents to teach phone responsibility, while still giving the kids a level of freedom.
It’s a service I would have used in the future when my kids were big enough - hopefully someone else will over these types of options in the future.

1That type of service is already out there. Check T-Mobile. They have a rate plan that is called T-Mobile kidConnect. It allows you to stay in touch with your kid and in control of the bill. The plan works with any T-Mobile phone and allows unlimited calls between parents and kids on their T-Mobile phones — and no overage charges, ever! Plus the plan allows kids to communicate any way they want with voice, text, instant, or picture messaging.
Here is the link if you need to check it out:
