Firefox 1.0.7 Released

Mozilla has released version 1.0.7 of the Firefox browser. The 1.5 beta seems to be going well. I have been running it for about a week now without any problems.

Firefox 1.0.7 is a security and stability release. We strongly recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.

This version includes several security and stability fixes, including a fix for a reported buffer overflow vulnerability and a fix for a Linux shell command vulnerability.

Firefox has also reached 90,000,000 downloads. If they can get 10 million more by November 9th, they will have 100 million downloads within a year of the 1.0 release.

I’m sure the actual 1.5 release will be great, but when I tried the beta there were both rendering issues on some sites (that older versions of firefox handle fine) and weird tabbing based bugs as well as accasionally crashing.

Did you happen to have many plugins being used Norgus? If you did some/most of them probably weren’t tested for the 1.5 version.

Also, there’s a “Report” button you can add to report broken or badly rendered pages to Mozilla so they can fix it so do try to use that. The 1.5 beta version’s purpose is to test it before releasing the final version so it won’t end up being another “Windows 98″.
