Ever since the release of Firefox 1.0 advertisers have searched for new ways of implementing their pop ups and ended up using pop-up abilities of Java and Flash which the Mozilla developers didn’t block since they feared it would block any legitimate use for them.
If you’ve been getting them (I know I have) then install this plugin made by the developers themselves.
Note: you need to allow the site to install plugins. Click on the “Edit Options” button that will appear then click on “Allow” on the window that will popup.

1It’s way too overzealous now, it won’t even allow pages to open new tabs in response to my clicks.

2Hmmm… you’re right. I guess it’s a double edged sword, but in general I wish sites would just stop using popups of any kind.
These sort of changes should depend on the mistakes of the browser developers, not webmasters treachery.
