It’s been months since I’ve last touched my Nintendo DS. There has just been too much work for me as well as the novelty of having a Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 to focus on another platform. Besides, I got too bored played Puzzle Quest that I needed a break from the DS.

I had some free time a couple of weeks so I took the DS out of storage and decided to look for new games on the net (yes, I have one of THOSE nifty game cart devices) and was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of really good games available for the DS. The big number of high quality games really reinforces my belief that the DS is THE better portable. The innovative gameplay mechanics of using a stylus never feels old or gimmicky and almost all of the popular game genres are well represented in the DS game library.

I excitedly installed Square’s innovative RPG The World Ends With You, the cool puzzle game Professor Layton and The Curious Village, and Phoenix Wright. I also got the two Harvest Moon games for my wife (one of the biggest Harvest Moon fans I know), and for my kid a slew of kid-friendly games (Cars, Over The Hedge, Finding Nemo). Actually, looking at that collection of games, I just realized one thing — a Nintendo DS is a true family game device.
