I first started using Vim because it was the “geek” thing to do. If you are going to use Linux you have to learn either emacs or vi. I say “have to” because you want to be hardcore right?
Anyways, over time I started to see the value in using Vi(m). It was on every Linux box I came across and therefore editing files over a network became extremely simple. I knew there were ways to customize it, but I never bothered to take the time to study them. After read this article I will.
Brian doesn’t go into great depths about how you can customize Vim, but he does do a great job of showing the potential that customization holds by showing you how he customizes it. After reading this, you can’t help but want to dive in and get everything customized. Hopefully, your computer doesn’t crash and kill all your setting.
