Over 1.5 million people have pre-ordered the game. Pre-ordered. That doesn’t mean the 20 million of us who are going to try and get it on the day of the release. That is 1.5 million people who will be getting it the day of release and trying to hawk it to us poor souls on eBay.
Get all those people up on Live! and you have yourself at least 3 months in lost work production. With such a strong online architecture in place, the future looks bright for XBOX and XBOX2

1I’m sorry, but what’s this Halo 2 stuff everyone’s been talking about?
October 19th, 2004 at 6:20 pm
2Nicole: It’s a first person shooter game, pretty generic and ho-hum for us PC gamers, but console gamers are so deprived of quality gaming, what with all the platforming around and jumping puzzles, that when a game like Halo 2 comes around, everyone and his sister pre-orders it.
For PC gamers, we’re pre-ordering Half-Life 2 and asking “Halo who?” ;)

4Computers are the best way to play games and they indeed have the best ones. Half Life 2 is gonna be the best game of all time.

5Thanks Matt. I was being a little facetious in order to make fun of the Halo 2 craze. :)

6Matt’s pretty much correct, by PC standards it’s “pretty good” or “solid” at best, but it blows many console FPS titles out of the water. I did love the first Halo though, even if it is overrated. It lacks in the gameplay department some, but it has a story and style that appealed to me and the combat did make you think on the harder modes. It will be interesting to see how much more diverse Halo 2 will be.

7Halo was an awesome achievement and bettered many PC games in many respects. Multiplayer was fun and it had really good vehicle support.
You can’t say that it is/will be better than Battlefield Vietname or Half-Life 2. It’s a different experience, I have very fond memories of playing Halo both on the Xbox and the PC. And the cooperative story mode was just the icing on the cake.
Only popular because console gamers are deprived of good FPS? Don’t think so: most of the fellow Xbox gamers I talk to are also PC gamers and love this game because it’s simply excellent. Also, the Xbox Live multiplayer platform just works well. That might have helped…

8Nicole: Woops, didn’t notice the facetiousness. :P
Personally I feel Tribes: Vengeance should’ve been what Halo was. Halo was an empty shell of a game, repetitive, not very inspiring, and the port’s quality was really horrible, especially graphics-wise. As an example, Doom 3 looks 10x better, yet runs faster than Halo on any computer. Although I do agree, the story, and the premise of Halo is very intriguing, I enjoyed that.
I have no idea how Halo 2 will turn out, I haven’t read up on it, and personally don’t have high hopes for it if it ever does get ported to the PC. Half-Life 2, in my opinion, will win all the Game of the Year awards.

9While Halo’s storyline is somewhat interesting, it just didn’t hold my attention. If I want a console game with a good story, I’ll play Metel Gear Solid.
As far as the multiplayer is concerned, the game does feature a good set of controls and the envoirments are great for multiplayer.

10All you pc fanboys need to get an xbox and experience the greatest game ever whic is coming out november 9th.
I’m playing counterstrike source right now and have half life 2 preloaded through steam so don’t get me wrong, i’m no xbox fan, but i know a good game when i play one, and after attending numerous halo lan partys the price of an xbox and halo (equal to less than half the price of my video card) is well worth it, and those of you calling this game ’somewhat interesting” or “an empty shell of a game” are simply ignorant ad just trying to rationalize because you’ve decided not to invest in it.

16Half Life 2 is gonna be way better than Halo 2. An X-Box is just an 833 MHz computer with an ATI Radeon II graphics card. My computer can support way more than that.
November 8th, 2004 at 6:11 pm

18Halo 2 is a decent game, I can’t say its perfect because, well, play through it all the way and you’ll see. All I can say for myself is, They’d better do it. and as I said, you have to play through the game to see what I’m talking about…
November 16th, 2004 at 6:24 am
19Halo 2 is boring. I just finished the game and it was very lame. The cut scenes were pretty but irrelevent. Gameplay is repetetive and poorly lit. 95% of the game is cut & pasted from Halo 1. Collision detection is primitive and there are many glitches to vex a demanding gamer. No doubt Halo 3 is in the making. Fingers crossed they do a better job.

20Halo 2 was too rushed-they shouldn’t have set a tight schedule for themselves. They should stop using the Havoks engine-look at how unrealistic some of the physics are. The problem with creating Halo sequels is Halo was praised for redefining console gaming (dunno about that but, that’s what some of them said), and creating sequels to a game which became famous through redefining things-you won’t exactly redefine it without it getting either too linear or too warped. Bungie should settle for other more original projects-and spend good time on it. They should spend some time on trying to improve the physics and graphics-what’s the use of trying to save the universe from the Covenant/Flood scourge when your feet can’t even make contact on most rounded surfaces? Bungie has potential-Halo has some too-but it needs time to work alone. (What I find interesting is Halo was first worked for the Mac-interesting indeed)

21Halo rules all games except halo 2, its obvious no system will ever make a game that sells as well as halo, or has as good of gameplay as halo 2. all u people dissing it are dumbasses and suck ass.
