I Got My Halo 2

1I just finished Halo on my Mac and thought it was one of the coolest games since Half-Life back when I had a PeeCee.
XBox only? That sucks. Wouldn’t matter though, I wouldn’t get it even if I had one; I just hate first-person shooters on anything less than a keyboard/mouse combo. Hmm, maybe they make one for the XBox…
Fortunately, I’ll get to play DOOM 3 early next year.

2Yea, something about playing a FPS on the console screams interactive rail shooter to me. The aggressive auto-aim kills it for me. Not to mention the 2001-like graphics, with LOD popping galore. I just shudder at the thought of no AA/AF too. :(

3i noticed the auto-aim too.. I think it sucks.. but the game is so fun i can’t complain. I had never heard that Halo had auto aim before.. and I was xbox living a last night and I was shooting a guy.. when my gun swung in another direction toward an enemy that lept in front of me. I almost threw my controller down.. did I imagine that??!

10Wow, what a noob, ced… Auto Aim is automatically on.. AKA the red dot. They screwed halo 2 over buy puttin to much of it on. Halo 1 had barely any, so it took more skill. So now in halo 2, noobs like ced can just pick up a sniper and kill people.

14Just want u to know that I think Halo rocks, for pc that is. And I hope and prey that Halo2 will come to pc soon. I see hundres of people online that wish the same! Microsoft needs to get their act together and produce what the HALO fans WANT!!!!!! HALO2 FOR PC!!!!!

18Wow you all are dumbasses…there isn’t an AA for Halo 2 within the game. The only thing *Remotely* close to that is an AIM assist which is kinda stupid.

19auto aim should not be in console games …. i think it was made so the fps computer nerds wouldnt freak out that they couldnt get a precise hit in the head with a damn pistol from 4000 feet away . . . so it would help them by aiming for them . . . its like training wheels for the people to fat to ride a bike !

20There is auto aim in halo,its always on for all players and cant be turned off. If you dont believe me then pop in a copy of halo2, start a multiplayer game with a friend, then stand about five feet away from your friend. put the croshairs on them so the reticule turns red, then walk sidways. your croshair will stay locked on to the person, even if u dont touch the right joystick. (shows up especially well with the sword) its not cheating, and it works for everybody (n00bs just dont notice that the game is aiming for them). halo2 rules nonetheless, but it sucks that bungie included such ridiculus autoaim

21When we design a console FPS, we HAVE to incorporate a pretty large auto aim feature, we also have to make games play very horizontal (ie. You’re not going to be jerking your crosshairs up and down frequently). Both of these adjustments are due to the analog joystick. While we **think it may eventually be possible for a player to develop abilities with a joystick as to not need autoaim, it’s something that not many people could do, and those that could, would only aquire after thousands of hours or play time (literally).
Right now the issue of keyboard+mouse vs. controller is an issue of pride. Why wouldn’t it be? After investing so much time into one gameplay method, to learn that you might be using the inferior of the two can be quite frustrating.
So basically:
Halo 2 = Auto-aim + horizontal game play
Any PC FPS = No auto-aim, No game-skill limitations.
