Intel revealed, a press conference a few days ago, some details about the 45nm successor to the popular 65nm Core 2 Duo Processors. Besides the further miniaturization of the components, the new processors will also have a bigger cache and the capacity to do calculations more efficiently.
If you want to read more details on what the new processors will have in store you can read the original article from ars, but, I’m guessing, that what you really want to know is: how faster your games will run thanks to it. Well, you’ll be happy to know, that performance will increase by as much as 20% on games, and by 40% some applications like video codecs.
Intel aims to introduce six Penryn products this year and 15 are currently under development. It would be nice if a Penryn-enabled Macbook was launched when Leopard comes out.
