I must apologize as it seems I’ve been asleep at the wheel in reporting Flickr-related applications. I nearly missed new kid on the block Lickr. What is Lickr exactly?

Lickr removes the need for Flash. It runs within the web browser Firefox, stripping the Flash before the user can even see it, and replacing it with an equivalent interface in pure HTML and Javascript.

So, why bother? Lickr would be helpful for those using an operating system that doesn’t run Flash very well (or at all), and there is probably speed improvement. Lickr is also a regular bonanza of buzz words as it incorporates Flickr, Greasemonkey, and Ajax.
