One of the myths that has always plagued the sales of Apple’s hardware is the price for which they sell their computers. A couple of years back, before Apple made the jump to Intel hardware, it seemed to be a no-brainer that PC hardware was much cheaper, but what about now?
Former Windows expert, Scot Finnie, who recently made the jump to Apple, has written an interesting article trying to find high-end laptops that match the Macbook Pro’s specifications. What he found is surprising, and he found out that Mac laptops have a surprisingly good value for their specifications, and the competitor equivalents he managed to find were more expensive and heavier.
In the mid-range models, he also came to a similar conclusion. The only “problem” with Apple computers is that they offer very few variations between their computers while competitors have dozens of models for each of their “lines”.
And with a new Mac OS X coming out soon, looks like those computers will get an even greater value.
