Although bycicles aren’t used a lot as transportation in countries other than some Asian ones, this particular one should interest those that intend to use it for going to places.
This bike, that was just announced, can carry you for 19 miles at 15mph, with some minimum effort from the rider. It will be sold in Japan for approximately 740$. In my personal opinion, buying a bike such as this one kind of ruins the purpose of it. You might as well get a scooter if you intend on buying a bike such as this one.

2I remember that in Japan a lot of electric bikes are marketed towards older folks, who might not have the strength to pedal up longer hills. In these bikes, the motor isn’t very heavy or strong. If you think of it as a bike with that extra feature, then it’s a good idea.
A scooter or motorcycle is a totally different way to get around. You can’t ride those (or park) in the same spaces as a bike, you need to refuel at the gas station, plus you need a motorcycle license (depending on cc and state). Motorbikes (even scooters) are a lot bigger and heavier than a bicycle.
