Since 1988, Photoshop evolved a lot from a simple program to display graphics, to the full fledged image and graphic editing tool that artists of all forms use nowadays. But that evolution didn’t stop there, and Photoshop went from being just a program to becoming a brand that is, for some, better known than Adobe itself, and some people have started to adopt Photoshop as a verb to refer to a picture that was digitally edited.

As the brand became better known, Adobe seized the opportunity to create a bunch of spin-off programs with the Photoshop brand, so it’s no wonder that they’ve decided to create an icon to associate with the name.

Although I can’t rate neither the logo nor the tagline as anything above average, I’m surprised that they adopted a “balloon”, reminiscent of comic books, as it’s logo, rather than a graphical icon like a paintbrush or even an “eye”.
