Playstation 3 Prices Revealed?
Wednesday, May. 18 2005 | Author: jeremyIGN is reporting that an article published by a Japanese newspaper quotes an official from Sony who apparently told the newspaper that the PS3 would sell for “less than 50,000 yen each”.
Assuming that the price difference between the US and Japanese versions of the PS3 are not huge, that translates to somewhere around $465 for the system in the US.
Comparitively, the XBox 360 is rumored to have two price points, $299 and $399, which I guess means there will be two different XBox 360 systems released with different specs.

12Selling the PS3 around $450, if SONY does, will be a giant downfall for SONY. Because all the kids are going to want it and there parents are not going to put that much money into a Gameing console.

16Yeah I don’t remeber where I heard this but I think they’re doing two prices the stripped version made just for gaming would go for 300 and the beefed up version That can make phone calls and all this Crazy Stuff Dill Go for 465 i think it was IGN or Gamespot

17If the PS3 debuts at 450 dollars it better not have the problems that the PS2 did. (e.g. disk drive wearing out and the other various problems that made us go out and buy another.) 19If the PS3 cost $400 I’ll most likly buy it but fuck man sony is a dumb ass to sell it for $400 cause the Xbox 360 is like only $300 and I heard that that xbox will most likely put out halo3 when PS3 comes out so like people will buy the game then the PS3.

Anywho, I think that the PS3 is going to kick the Xbox 360’s butt by the time it hits the market. The 360, in my opinion, was rushed out to the market, while SONY is taking their time and doing stuff right. I am a PS2 fan, main because of free internet play, but also because the Xbox was more expensive when the systems were first out in the market (within like 3 months). Anywho, that’s my input.

30Why would a game console cost so much? The graphics can’t be that much better than the xbox 360. If you sell it for a price lower than a 360 and then you will reach the top price and will sell more than microsft, but you have to learn how to compete against other product companies.
