I don’t know if I am noticing this because I am part of a geek news site myself or it is just my ego kicking in (hell we know it’s both), but has anyone else noticed that with some newsbits Slashdot always seems a couple of days behind? I remember when they used to be the first to announce everything and they still do announce a lot of things first, but I am beginning to see more and more items slip past their radar.
For example, the latest entry (as of this writing), Jef Raskin On The Mac, is at least 4 days old. I read about it over at Ars Technica last week. Slashdot has it up today.
Maybe the bigger you get the slower you move, hope that is never the case with FG. And no I am not hatin’ on them, just doing a “I remember when…” type of thing. Haha, well the title is kind of hatin’, but we gotta have some humor on Mondays.

1I submitted th story about the Google Desktop Proxy to Slashdot, and it took them three days to reject it. The worry is not the rejection but simply how long it took from submition to processed item. I’ve seen it on a number of occasions lately, and it especially happens to sensitive items. I’m tempted to think Slashdot is becoming somewhat more filtered and probed. Good thing Forever Geek is around, then, eh?

2I totally agree with you. It’s ironic because I had just made the same comment today to a colleague about the post “Google-branded Firefox” (news that’s decomposingly old by now). I think the Slashdot Era is coming to an end.

3Yeah, Slashdot has been slow for quite some time now. Thing reported here even, are showing up on /. 3, 4, even 5 days later. It’s kinda…ho hum.
