Nintendo’s Super Smash Brothers Brawl is already out in stores and I can’t wait till I get my hands on a copy of what could probably be the best game of 2008. Just the opportunity to choose Kirby in order to kick Mario’s Italian ass is well worth the price of admission.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with the game. There are growing reports that some consoles are unable to read the game. It’s good thing though that Nintendo is not like Microsoft because they quickly acknowledged the problem and even put up a help page on their website in order to assist Wii owners who have encountered the problem.
The problem is actually not as big as it seems. apparently, some consoles have a problem reading the second layer of the dual layer disc and it has been traced to dirty lens on the drive. Nintendo is already offering free repairs for units that encounter the problem (bravo, Nintendo!). Another workaround that you can do though is to allow the disc to finish reading before loading the game.

1Don’t suppose Wii games are region free?
This doesn’t come out for a while yet here in the UK.

3No, Wii games are not region-free, unfortunately. Also, is that the American cover for the game up there? It’s pretty underwhelming. But then, it’s just a cover.
