During the past few months I’ve started to notice that external Hard Drives are becoming increasingly more popular. I own one, most of my colleagues own one and there are dozens of models popping up in local tech stores.

But one thing that surprises me, in a negative way, is that all of them are basic. There is no way to visually check how much space you have, there is no way to do something useful like getting photos out of a camera Flash card.

Ok, I know that there are already some devices that do that, but not as many as I’d like to see, and not as cheap as I hope they would be. In Japan the story is different, and devices with those features are very common, and this is just one of them:
