Well, to be honest I *hate* The Sims series. It’s extremely boring and I can’t play it for more than 15 minutes. But that is just me and I gotta admit that it’s amazing the way this games sells! “The Sims 2″ sold 1 million copies in 10 days, being the best release ever for an Electronic Arts game. And it seems that they wanna conquer the world now:
EA plans to follow up The Sims 2, which is a PC-only product, with a new evolution of the Sims franchise for consoles - The Urbz: Sims in the City. The title, which features exclusive music from popular hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas (who also appear in the game) will launch on PS2, Xbox, Cube, GBA and Nintendo DS this November.
It’s good to remember that The Sims is the best selling game of PC history. I wonder what’s the fuzz all about…

1That’s just sickening. EA has a cash cow and now we can expect no less than 5 expansion packs. Lesson to be learned here, don’t go for the hardcore gamer, go for the casual gamer and make them a hardcore gamer.

2I personally think the game is good. I love all Sim games. Good for them for making a game more addictive than crack and Tetris

3I guess I’ll never like The Sims basically because it offers me nothing new. Think about it, the game is basically a life simulator; why would I wanna play a simulator if I can do the real thing? Why would I try to get a date on The Sims if I can go out of my house and try to get a date in the real life, where stuff really happen? It’s like a pilot being addicted to Flight Simultator.. it just doesn’t make any sense to me.
The thing about games is the possibility to explore new worlds, to explore the unknown, to do things that you would never do in real life; things that are impossible, things that are incredible, things that you just don’t have the guts to do in planet Earth. Perhaps I’m way out on this one (and perhaps that wasn’t really a geeky thing to say), but that’s just me…

4humm there are many typos in the article : “remeber”, “Eletronic”, “wander” (wonder ?!).
But I could be wrong, given that english is neither my first language, nor my second.
I usually love your posts, don’t spoil my pleasure ;)

8I bought Sims 2 (played sims 1 for a month). But it won’t allow me to play the game because it says I have CD emulating programs on my computer. So I uninstalled Alcohol 120%, Nero, and clone cd (don’t use em..cept for Nero). I then reinstalled the game and it still says I have something…but if I do, I don’t know where. Couldn’t they have thought up a better way to discourage copying?

9I did not know that Sims 2 had this kind of “protection” and I’m quite shocked. This is extremely invasive and unacceptable. What does Electronic Arts has to do with what I got installed on my computer? Next thing you’ll know they won’t let you install their software if your Windows is not official or perhaps if you have a not licensed version of another EA game. Pathetic…

12Hey mel, i’m in the same boat, i’ve gone through about half a dozen discs already… I reckon there’s something in the coding preventing it from being copied… let me know if you figure it out…
