20 years - that’s the age difference between the IBM hard drive on the left, and the SD Card on the right. Both feature a maximum storage capacity of 1 Gb.

It’s amazing the difference 20 years of advancement can make, isn’t it?

Yeah but that’s not the biggest difference. The biggest difference is the cost. That IBM thing probably cost $100,000.00 in it’s day. The tiny one (you should have shown a microSD for significant contrast, CF cards are considered huge by todays standards) can be had for less than $50.

hmm, a museum here in norway has a 1MB ibm drive plate in their collection. the plate is about 1meter in diameter!
