Virus Writers Take Advantage Of Sony’s Rootkit

Wow, things just get better and better for Sony and their big mistake. If you have not already heard, Sony has taken it upon themselves to install software on your computer when you insert certain CD’s into your computer. This software is for Digital Rights Management. One of the things the software does is make “$sys$” files invisible. So now there is a variant of a trojan that just uses similarly named files so that as long as Sony’s Rootkit is installed, the trojan is completely invisible.

I’ve been telling everyone about this. I can’t believe that Sony would take such an action without considering the consequences. Maybe it’s a huge conspiracy. Sony is buying up all the malware companies and is about to take over the world’s computers. Gotta love it… Wouldn’t it be nice if some hacker, exploiting the Sony rootkit, DOS’ed them?
