It’s been a while since I last had a look at Browser stats, and for a good reason: I know how polemic they usually become. But according to W3Counter.com’s Global Web Stats page, the combined browser share of all Mozilla browsers is just over 25%.
Although they track 4,412 websites, I find it a bit odd that on their report from the 10th of this month the browser share for Internet Explorer 7, which is included with all new Vista machines decreased by approximately 1%. According to the W3schools browser stats page, Firefox alone already has 32% (almost 33%) browser share.
Regardless of which source you trust the most, I find it surprising that people continue to adopt Firefox as their preferred browser, despite of all the new things that IE7 brought.
Are people becoming more tech-savvy, or are they simply tired of the quality, or lack of it, that Microsoft’s browser has?
If you’ve never tried the Firefox browser, you can get it from this link. If you want to try out, or upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 (which I recommend, if you’re still using IE 6)you can get it from here (Windows Genuine Validation is most likely required).

1Why does it surprise you that Firefox 2.0 gains share over IE 7? One browser is a fast, secure, innovative and enjoyable way to surf the web, the other is a restrictive piece of resource-intensive garbage.

2I am not the least bit surprised. Firefox is successful because of one thing: EASE OF USE. The extensibility of Firefox whips IE7 like a red headed step child. Not to say anything of how much more smoothly Firefox manages RSS content and feeds, and the ability to subscribe to a third party service. When referring to the argument of Firefox OVER IE 7, only one word comes to mind: PWNAGE.

3@Jamie - it’s surprising because a few years back no one used to care what program they used to browse. Heck, most users didn’t even know what a browser was.
