Joss Whedon has achieved near mythological status among geeks all over the world. Ask any geek and he’ll be able to rattle off his many projects from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and even his astounding work on the comic book medium via The Astonishing X-Men.

Whedon has firmly entrenched his name to geek fandom for his work on the much lamented Firefly — a short lived sci-fi series that has become a cult favorite and even spawned a hit movie — Serenity. Geeks have reason to rejoice though because Whedon is about to go back to the sci-fi genre through his new series Dollhouse. The series, which will air on Fox, will star former Buffy alum Eliza Dushku. The premise for Dollhouse is quite intriguing…

“Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody’s fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language–even muscle memory–for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal.

“When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments–or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo’s burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.”

I am so gonna be there when it airs especially with Tim Minear (Firefly, Wonderfalls, Drive) having signed on board to help with the series.
