Dark Horizons reports Producer Joel Silver and Warner Bros. are moving forward with a planned “Masters of the Universe” live-action film. The producer and studio are in negotiations with Mattel to acquire the rights to the property. Newcomer Justin Marks, who recently landed a co-writing gig with David Goyer on the DC prison film “SuperMax,” has been brought on board to pen the script.
Now here’s the “they’re already screwing it up” part…
This new version of He-Man reimagines the property as Prince Adam (He-Man) being a solider who stumbles upon the magical world Eternia where the evil Skeletor is using a technology-fueled army to wipe out all traces of magic.
uhuh…
He-Man has a chance to be a visually amazing action film that could easily be sold as “Conan” meets “Lord of the Rings” in a technology filled fantasy setting….there is no need to make him a soldier, or bring the cosmic key into it…or any of that…ah well…chances are (much like that “Supermax” movie) we’ll never see this hit the screen anyway…
If they’re going to NOT do it right…we already have the 1987 Masters film…why do we need another one?

1I you mean David S. Goyer then it will come as no surprise that the plot will be bad.

2The Rock won’t be available so it’ll go to John Cena to play Prince Adam, and i’ll die a little inside.
Or is that Sgt Brock “Prince” Adam……..i’m going to be sick, I shall have vengeance Joel Silver.
Conan meets Star wars is cool enough without trying to ram Flash Gordon up it.
And Supermax sounds cool as there is no way Green Arrow (one of my favorite characters) would ever make it to the screen otherwise. In the comics a cool sarcastic riff on Batman does Robin Hood, on film it’s super camp renaissance fair reject in junk hugging green lycra.

3Why do movie people keep wanting to push He-Man into the modern day. Does noone remember the 1987 Masters of the Universe? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093507/ Why repeat the same mistakes?
God Hollywood is stupid
