David Lynch’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic Dune may be flawed but despite its shortcomings I still enjoyed watching that movie. Had it been able to correct some of its flaws then it could have been an instant addition to the pantheon of quality sci-fi movies.

The Dune mythos was revisited again as a TV mini series. Honestly, I was never able to finish the whole series so I won’t be able to judge it objectively against the movie.  I did hear that some Dune fans enjoyed it and was said to be a faithful rendition of the novel.

Variety has reported though that Dune will once be given the big screen treatment with a new adaptation of the book. This time, Peter Berg has been hired to direct the new movie.  The movie will be produced by Paramount Pictures and the project has already been farmed to writers. The task now is to get the most faithful adaptation of the award winning book possible.

It will be interesting to see how this develops and which actors will be attached to play the key roles.  I myself am intrigued as to who will play Feyd Rautha.
