It seems that the world’s best known “book store” will soon introduce to it’s customers a Digital Video service (a-la iTunes Music Store) that will allow you to download TV shows episodes for $1.99 and the average movies for $10.

The FAQs say you will be able to transfer the videos onto a compatible media device, however, you won’t be able to play them on your DVD player due to DRM limitations.

But don’t get too excited yet iPod owners, it seems that to play the videos you need the Amazon player plugin, and the same seems to only work on Windows machines, so I’m guessing that this store will also fall within Microsoft’s partner Media Devices.

The interface of the videos is pretty much the same as the rest of the store however, the limitation of having to use the Amazon Player worries me a bit. The more companies force limit onto online media distributors the more I feel acquiring pirated media.
