Google has released Beta 2 version of its Desktop Search 2 application. This appears to be a significant upgrade from the previous release with new features like Sidebar.
Google Desktop includes Sidebar, a panel on your desktop which provides convenient, one-glance access to all sorts of personalized information.
Sidebar includes the following plug-ins: Email, News, Photos, Weather, Stocks, and Web Clips (which is essentially an RSS aggregator).

1I’m trying out the sidebar right now. It is really handy and neat, but most Iâm so used to getting my information in various other places instead of one (mail notification icon, weather in forcastfox, etc)
The only thing i find really cool is the picture options.
Otherwise, i get all the RSS feed i want from my google homepage.
One thing i do not like is the lack of an option to have the sidebar appear as a normal window, and be behind other windows.
