The day that telecommunication companies have feared for years will arrive soon enough: VOIP on a mobile phone.

In July, Nokia will release for it’s N800 device a Skype application for download. Kevin C. from jkOnTheRun recently saw the application running at the Digital Experience show. It won’t support video calls on it’s first version, which isn’t very surprising. Although this won’t give the iPhone a run for it’s money, it could very well convince more people to buy Nokia’s internet tablet.
Personally, I’ll wait until those tablets fit in my pocket, nothing personal Nokia, but I like my cellphones small and slim.

1Good job it’s not a cellphone then isn’t it?

2Someone is misinformed. The N800 IS NOT A MOBILE PHONE, nor was it ever meant to be. Its an internet tablet and I would suggest researching such statements first. But, its also a testament to Nokia’s poor marketing of the device that people are not really aware what it does.

3Can I stream from my mac with airport xpress? What should I do to allow full use through my G4 imac. Is it easy to set up?? I am expecting delivery this week. I’m possibly feeling buyers remorse. Can a mac user relieve me of this dark feeling???

4The tablet works perfectly with a Mac - just need to find the wireless network and you’re off. The other poster is correct in that it’s not a mobile phone, but it definitely is something that is a great mobile device and with the addition of Skype becomes something else entirely.
