The Pirate Bay, one of the most popular bit torrent websites which lists (mostly) illegal content like Music, Movies or TV Series; now seems to be sponsored by Wal-Mart, the very well known discount department store:
According to Variety, Wal-Mart placed targeted ads for DVDs of âThe Sopranosâ, âSmallvilleâ, âDesperate Housewivesâ and the movie âOffice Spaceâ and other DVDs. The ads appeared on pages that linked to corresponding torrents.
Is this a step in the right direction, and a hint of what the future will hold, or is this just something to make the MPAA more upset? Frankly, I think that it will be a mixture of both.
