The world would be a better place if all Operating Systems contained all the same fonts. The web would work better. Applications would work better. Hell, in fact if one of the presidential candidates proposed to have a unified font platform across all OS’s I would vote for him no matter who it was…okay not quite, but that would be pretty damn cool.

This article does a great job of explaining the differences between Type1 and TrueType. Now if only all distros would come with the Windows TrueType fonts installed by default then there would be less things to worry about.
